Jamshedpur : TP Solar Limited, the solar manufacturing arm of The Tata Power Company Limited (Tata Power) and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), recorded strong manufacturing performance in Q2 FY27, producing 1 GW of solar modules and 0.9 GW of solar cells between July and September 2026.
During H1 FY27 (April to September 2026), TP Solar manufactured 2 GW of solar modules and 1.8 GW of solar cells. The production performance reflects the company’s continued capacity ramp-up and improving operational efficiency.
The company’s modules comply with Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) norms and are approved under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
4.3 GW Manufacturing Facility in Tamil Nadu
TP Solar operates one of India’s largest single-location, state-of-the-art 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facilities at Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
The facility has a workforce comprising nearly 80 per cent women, reflecting the company’s emphasis on an inclusive workforce.
Through its subsidiary TPREL, Tata Power has invested nearly ₹4,300 crore in establishing the facility. The investment marks a significant step towards greater indigenisation across the solar value chain and supports Tata Power’s strategic focus on achieving self-sufficiency in solar cell and module manufacturing.
Advanced TOPCon and Mono PERC Technologies
The Tirunelveli facility is equipped with advanced TOPCon and Mono PERC technologies.
It produces ALMM-certified modules as well as DCR modules using Made-in-India cells. The plant also incorporates AI/ML-driven systems and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to support intelligent automation and operational efficiency.
The manufacturing facility represents a next-generation approach to solar production, combining advanced technology with automated processes.
