Bihar News : A tragic incident occurred in Bihar’s Motihari district on Sunday morning when a boat carrying around 15 people capsized in the Sikrahana River. One person has been confirmed dead, while two others remain missing. Local residents and administration teams managed to rescue 12 people safely from the river.
The incident took place near Lakhoura Purabari Tola under the Lakhoura police station area. According to eyewitnesses, several villagers were crossing the river with fodder for their cattle when strong winds suddenly hit the area, causing the boat to lose balance and overturn midstream. All passengers were thrown into the river.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Kailash Sahni, who succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The missing individuals are reported to be Baboolal Sahni (45) and Mukesh Sahni (26). The local administration has called in the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and rescue operations are ongoing.
Panic spread through the area immediately after the accident. Villagers quickly began rescue efforts on their own, jumping into the river to save those trapped. Their swift action helped save 12 lives. The rescued individuals were rushed to a nearby private hospital, where some are said to be in critical condition.
Those rescued include Gugli Sahni, Dilip Sahni, Jungli Sahni, Satyanarayan Sahni, Gopalji Prasad, Disco Sahni, Raju Sahni, Radheshyam Sahni, and Shivpujan Sahni. Identities of the remaining three injured persons are being verified. The district administration has assured full support to the affected families and ordered an investigation into the incident.
