- Bihar will hold Panch Sammelan across all gram panchayats till August 15 to ensure effective implementation of the VB-G RAM G scheme and expand employment and development initiatives.
Bihar News : The Bihar government is taking steps to make villages self-reliant and prosperous through the new VB-G RAM G scheme. To ensure its effective and transparent implementation, district-wise Panch Sammelan will be organised across all gram panchayats in the state till August 15.
The campaign will involve representatives of the three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions, particularly mukhiyas, ward members and panches, along with administrative officials. The statewide awareness drive will continue across all gram panchayats until August 15.
How Is the New Scheme Different From MGNREGA?
Rural Development Department and Information and Public Relations Minister Shravan Kumar said the main objective of the Panch Sammelan is to clearly explain the differences between the earlier MGNREGA and the VB-G RAM G scheme, which came into effect from July 1, 2026.
Through these conferences, panchayats will be guided on preparing evidence-based development plans according to local requirements. The objective is to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach rural residents directly and appropriately.
Focus on Employment and Rural Development
The minister said the VB-G RAM G programme is not merely an employment scheme but an important foundation for achieving the national goal of Viksit Bharat-2047 within the targeted timeframe.
The scheme provides for timely and transparent digital wage payments along with a mandatory unemployment allowance under legal provisions.
Unlike the earlier system, development works under the new scheme have been divided into four clear, outcome-oriented categories. These include water conservation and natural resource management, construction of durable rural infrastructure, creation of productive livelihood assets and strengthening of the rural economy.
The scheme also focuses on addressing the impact of climate change and promoting green development.
Digital Technology for Transparency
According to the minister, modern digital technologies have been incorporated to make the VB-G RAM G scheme transparent, accountable and corruption-free.
The measures include biometric and facial verification at worksites, real-time digital attendance and monitoring, transparent digital wage payments and a strong grievance redressal mechanism for faster resolution of complaints.
The government is working towards the vision of “Empowered Panchayats for a Developed Bihar.”
