Offbeat News : South Indian superstar Vijay‘s much-awaited film ‘Jana Nayagan’ was released in theatres on Friday, with fans across Tamil Nadu celebrating the occasion like a festival. Supporters of Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), joined thousands of moviegoers in marking the release with grand celebrations.
Videos of enthusiastic fans celebrating outside theatres have gone viral on social media. The film features Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Narain in key roles.
Festive Atmosphere at Theatres
Special cultural events were organized at several theatres in Chennai, including Woodlands and Casino, to mark the film’s release. Fans welcomed their favorite star with laser shows, drum performances, and dance celebrations.
Late on Wednesday night, a drone show was also held outside a theatre in Chennai, where large crowds gathered while waiting for the first-day-first-show screening.
Huge cut-outs of Vijay were installed at major intersections and outside cinema halls. According to PTI, Vijay also attended a special screening of the film on Wednesday evening along with a few officials.
Release Compared to Diwali and Pongal
Tamil Nadu Transport Minister Vijay Tamilan Parthiban described the release of Jana Nayagan as being as significant as the festivals of Diwali and Pongal for the state. He also revealed that he has a brief appearance in the film and announced that around 100 helmets would be distributed in Chennai as commemorative gifts.
Meanwhile, TVK MLA K. V. Vijayadharan said, “Today, I am not here as an MLA but as a fan of Vijay to enjoy the film.”
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is widely regarded as Vijay’s final film before he fully transitions into active politics. The movie was originally scheduled for release in January but was postponed due to delays in certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
