Bihar News : A major chapter is set to be added to Bihar’s infrastructure and road network with the Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur 6-lane bridge nearing completion. Built over the Ganga at an estimated cost of around ₹5,000 crore, the extradosed cable bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity between North and South Bihar.
The main 6-lane bridge has been constructed by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) under the supervision of the Road Construction Department. The bridge is 9.76 kilometres long and stands on a total of 67 large pillars.
Including the approach roads on both ends, the total length of the mega project will be 19.30 kilometres. Once operational, the bridge will provide direct and uninterrupted connectivity between Patna and Vaishali, Samastipur and other parts of North Bihar.
Direct Link to Patna Ring Road and Amas-Darbhanga Route
Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal said the bridge is not merely a concrete structure but a symbol of Bihar’s changing and progressive infrastructure.
The bridge will provide a direct link between the Patna Ring Road and the Amas-Darbhanga route. It will connect Danapur, Digha, Shivala, Bihta, Kanhauli, Dumri, Nayagaon, Telwarichak, Kacchi Dargah and Sabalpur, creating a stronger connectivity network around the state capital.
Alternative Route for Commercial Vehicles
According to Pankaj Kumar Pal, once the bridge becomes operational, commercial vehicles, including trucks and goods carriers, will have an alternative route to travel around the city without entering its inner areas.
This is expected to provide a boost to local trade, transportation of agricultural produce and dairy products. It will also help reduce the pressure of heavy traffic on Patna’s roads and ease traffic congestion.
