Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Wednesday honoured 168 meritorious students who secured positions in the topper lists of the Intermediate and Matric Annual Examinations 2026. The award ceremony was held at the ‘Nek Samvad’ auditorium at Lok Sevak Awas in Patna, where the Chief Minister congratulated the students and wished them a bright future.
Samrat Chaudhary said the achievement of the students was the result of their hard work, talent and dedication. He said the topper felicitation ceremony was a special occasion not only for the students but also for the government.
The Chief Minister welcomed all 168 students and said that every student present at the event was a topper in his eyes.
Toppers to Be Honoured Within One Month Next Year
During a review of the programme, the Chief Minister said he was informed that topper students were earlier felicitated in November and December. He directed officials to honour meritorious students soon after the examination results are announced.
Samrat Chaudhary announced that from next year, the topper felicitation ceremony will be organised within one month of the declaration of examination results. The move is aimed at ensuring that students receive timely recognition and encouragement for their achievements.
Focus on Bihar’s Educational Heritage
The Chief Minister highlighted Bihar’s rich educational heritage and said the state has been a major centre of knowledge and education since ancient times. He referred to Nalanda and Vikramshila universities as important symbols of Bihar’s educational identity.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar restored Nalanda University in 2024. Steps have also been taken towards the restoration of Vikramshila University, for which 200 acres of land was allotted on July 15.
Modern Facilities Being Expanded in Schools
Samrat Chaudhary said Bihar’s educational heritage is being taken forward with modern facilities. He said coaching, live classes and live tutor facilities have been made available in 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketan model schools to provide students with a better learning environment.
He also appealed to former students to contribute towards the development of their schools and support the students studying there.
CM Urges Youth to Become Job Creators
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is a ‘Developed India’, while former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s vision is a ‘Prosperous Bihar’. He said everyone must work together to achieve these goals.
Samrat Chaudhary said Bihar is continuously progressing and that young people have the most important role in this journey. He urged the youth not only to seek jobs but also to become employment creators.
He said land has so far been made available for 1,000 industries in the state. With industrial development, opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship are also being expanded for young people.
Focus on a Permanent Solution to Floods
On the flood situation, the Chief Minister said Bihar is facing floods despite receiving 38 per cent less rainfall than normal. He noted that the state faces the challenge of floods almost every year.
He said efforts should not remain limited to relief and rescue operations and stressed the need to work towards a permanent solution to the recurring flood problem.
Samrat Chaudhary urged the students to use their talent and knowledge for the development of Bihar. He said everyone has a responsibility to make Bihar stronger, developed and prosperous.
