6 Dead as Car Falls into Gorge in Chamba, 4 from One Family

India News : A tragic road accident occurred late last night in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, where a car fell into a deep gorge, killing all six passengers on the spot. The deceased include four members of the same family. The incident took place on the Bhanzraru–Bhadkwas road, and the impact of the crash was so severe that the car was completely destroyed, leaving no survivors.

According to initial reports, the vehicle was returning from Chamba district headquarters when the driver lost control near Padhri in the darkness of the night. The car veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.

The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Kumar (40), son of Naren Singh; his wife Hanso Devi (36); daughter Aarti (17); son Deepak (15); Rakesh Kumar (44), son of Hari Singh; and Hempal (37), son of Inder Singh. Rajesh Kumar and his family were residents of Bulwas village, under the Jungra post office, while Hempal belonged to Salancha village, under Bhanzraru post office.

Soon after the accident, police teams and local residents rushed to the spot and began rescue operations. All six bodies were retrieved from the gorge and sent for post-mortem at the nearest hospital.

A police official from Chamba stated that a case has been registered, and an investigation has begun to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest the driver may have lost control due to poor visibility and challenging road conditions at night.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the region, with local residents mourning the loss of an entire family. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

Monsoon Claims Over 100 Lives in Road Accidents

The state administration has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving during the monsoon season due to the increased risk of accidents on hilly terrain.
