India News : In a heartwarming and emotional reunion, 70-year-old Balesh, also known as Munni Devi, tied a Rakhi on her brother Jagdish Singh’s wrist after being separated for 60 years. Tears welled up in her eyes as decades of longing turned into a moment of joy — a true Raksha Bandhan miracle that took place in Kambhor village of Bijnor district.
The story dates back to when 9-year-old Munni Devi got lost during the Ganga Snan Mela in Ganj. Despite the family’s desperate search, she could not be found. A kind-hearted policeman took her to Sirouli village in Farrukhabad, where she was adopted and raised lovingly by Lalai Singh’s family as one of their own. As she grew older, she was married off, and life moved on.
Although Munni Devi made a few attempts to trace her family, she feared rejection and never pursued it seriously. It wasn’t until she shared her story with her grandson, Prashant, that hope was rekindled. Determined to reunite his grandmother with her long-lost family, Prashant set off on his own to Bijnor without informing anyone.
Upon reaching Kambhor village, he met an elderly villager who helped him locate Jagdish Singh — Munni Devi’s only surviving brother. Overcome with emotion, Jagdish broke down when he learned that Prashant was the grandson of his sister who had vanished six decades ago.
Out of Munni Devi’s three brothers, two had already passed away, leaving Jagdish as the sole sibling alive. Her return to the village brought tears and smiles alike, not just from the family, but from neighbors and villagers who gathered to witness the reunion. The moment Munni Devi tied Rakhi on Jagdish’s wrist after 60 long years was deeply emotional and symbolic.
Everyone praised young Prashant for his devotion and love that led to this unforgettable Raksha Bandhan. His efforts not only gave his grandmother the gift of family but reminded everyone of the timeless bond between siblings.
This touching tale from Bijnor serves as a beautiful reminder that no distance, no time, and no obstacle can break the bonds of love and family.
