PM Modi joins BRICS Summit on multilateralism, economy, and AI

India News : PM Modi addressed the BRICS Summit on ‘Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence’ focusing on four key areas.

First, he stressed the need for self-improvement to boost credibility in advocating for reformed multilateralism, highlighting the importance of demand-driven, sustainable decision-making within the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB).

Second, he pointed out the establishment of the BRICS Agricultural Research Platform in India to share best practices in agri-biotech, precision farming, and climate change adaptation to meet the expectations of the Global South.

Third, Modi emphasized the importance of collaboration on critical minerals and technology while ensuring resilient supply chains free from exploitation or weaponization by any nation.

Fourth, he called for responsible AI development, asserting India’s commitment to using AI as a means to enhance human capabilities, guided by the principle of “AI for All.”

PM Modi announced plans for an “AI Impact Summit” in India next year to foster coordination among nations. He underscored the need for creating global standards to verify digital content authenticity and maintain transparency to prevent misuse.

“We have to work together for Responsible AI.To increase coordination among all countries, we are going to organise the “AI Impact Summit” in India next year. We hope that all of you will actively contribute to making this summit a success,” said PM Modi.

“Working on the mantra of ‘AI for All’, today India is actively and extensively using AI in areas such as agriculture, health, education, governance. We believe that resolving concerns and encouraging innovation in AI governance should be given equal priority. Global standards need to be created that can verify the authenticity of digital content, so that the source of the content can be known, transparency is maintained, and misuse is prevented .”noted by PM Modi.

PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to working alongside partners to fulfill the aspirations of the Global South, emphasizing a “Lead by Example” approach in pursuing shared goals. The collective efforts toward these initiatives, including agricultural advancements and responsible AI, are imperative for meaningful progress in a collaborative global landscape.
