India News : A shocking incident unfolded on Tuesday at Shastri Bridge in the Katra Kotwali area, when a young couple clasped hands and jumped into the Ganga River. Within moments, they were swept away by the strong current and went missing.
Bystanders immediately informed the police. Katra Kotwal Vaidyanath Singh and the Shastri Bridge outpost in-charge reached the spot. Police called in divers and SDRF teams, who searched until late evening, but the couple could not be traced.
A PAN card recovered from the young man’s bag helped police identify him as a 22-year-old resident of Dehat Kotwali area, who worked in a private company in Gujarat. He had recently returned home and was supposed to go back to Gujarat two days earlier. Instead, he came to Shastri Bridge with his lover and took the fatal plunge.
Police said the two were reportedly related to each other. The incident has sparked widespread discussions and speculation in the area.
