Bus Catches Fire in Katihar, 45 Passengers Escape Unharmed

India News : A major tragedy was averted in Katihar district on Sunday evening when a passenger bus caught fire near Phulwaria on NH-31 under Kodha police station limits.

The bus, traveling from Kursakanta in Araria to Kuppaghat in Bhagalpur, was carrying around 45 passengers at the time. Eyewitnesses said smoke began billowing from the engine near Phulwaria School. The driver immediately stopped the bus and signaled passengers to evacuate. Within minutes, flames engulfed the vehicle, reducing it to ashes.

Firefighters rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze, but the bus was completely destroyed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely evacuated.

Authorities later arranged an alternative bus to transport passengers to their destination. The incident has once again raised concerns over safety standards in long-distance buses.
