India News : In a significant step toward promoting green technology in India’s mining sector, Adani Enterprises Limited has been awarded the ‘Jury Choice Leadership in Climate Action Award’ at the Sustainability Symposium and Excellence Awards 2025.
The award ceremony, held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, brought together leading companies from across the country to showcase their sustainability initiatives. Adani Enterprises was recognized for the successful deployment of hydrogen-powered trucks in mining logistics — a groundbreaking initiative to reduce carbon emissions and embrace clean energy solutions.
The hydrogen truck, operating in Chhattisgarh, replaces diesel with hydrogen fuel, marking a major shift in clean transportation. Equipped with three hydrogen tanks, the truck can carry 40 tonnes of coal over 200 kilometers, significantly lowering noise and environmental pollution. The truck was flagged off in May 2025 by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur, and it currently operates between Gare Pelma III coal mine and a nearby power plant.
The project was awarded to Adani Enterprises through a tender process conducted by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL).
The jury praised the initiative for its technological innovation, energy efficiency, and contribution to green logistics, calling it a benchmark for climate leadership and environmental stewardship in industrial sectors.
In addition to hydrogen trucks, Adani Enterprises is implementing several other green technologies in its mining operations, including autonomous dozer push technology, solar power integration, digital initiatives, and tree transplantation equipment, aiming to set new standards for sustainable mining.
This initiative aligns with Adani Enterprises’ broader vision of energy self-reliance for India, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and accelerating the shift towards clean energy. The company plans to expand its hydrogen truck fleet in the future to further enhance sustainable logistics infrastructure.
