Will Cold Persist or Ease? IMD Predicts Stable Weather in Jharkhand

Jharkhand news : According to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, weather conditions across Jharkhand are expected to remain largely stable over the next five to seven days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that no major weather changes are likely during this period.

Over the past 24 hours, the weather across the state remained dry, with no rainfall reported from any district. Maximum temperatures have shown no significant variation from normal levels. Chaibasa recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 27.8 degrees Celsius, while Ranchi’s Kanke area registered the lowest minimum temperature at 6.0 degrees Celsius.

IMD officials stated that north-westerly to northerly winds are prevailing in the lower atmospheric levels, which is causing chilly conditions during early mornings and late nights. However, daytime temperatures are expected to remain comfortable.

The forecast suggests that until December 20, light to moderate fog is likely during morning hours across most parts of central, southern, north-western, and north-eastern Jharkhand. As the day progresses, skies are expected to clear, allowing sunshine to provide relief from the cold. Similar conditions are expected in districts such as Ranchi, Bokaro, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Ramgarh, Lohardaga, Koderma, and Dhanbad.

In north-western Jharkhand—including Koderma, Chatra, Garhwa, Latehar, Lohardaga, and Palamu—minimum temperatures are likely to range between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius. Gumla may record the lowest minimum temperature at around 6 degrees Celsius on December 18.

In Ranchi, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, and Khunti, maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may hover between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius. After a slight dip on December 17 and 18, temperatures are expected to stabilize again.

Southern Jharkhand districts, including East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela, and Simdega, are likely to witness maximum temperatures between 26 and 27 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures between 8 and 11 degrees Celsius. In north-eastern Jharkhand districts such as Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, and Sahibganj, daytime temperatures may range from 26 to 27 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures could stay between 10 and 14 degrees Celsius.

Although no weather warnings have been issued, IMD has advised motorists to remain cautious during foggy mornings, especially on highways, and to use fog lights due to reduced visibility.
