India News : People who buy liquor in Delhi are set to get a major convenience soon. They will no longer need to roam from one shop to another to find their preferred brand. The Delhi Excise Department is preparing to launch a new mobile application called ‘e-Abkari Delhi’, through which consumers will be able to check which liquor brand is available at which shop and how much stock is currently left.
This digital system is expected to significantly reduce crowding and inconvenience, especially during weekends and festivals. Through the app, customers will be able to view liquor shop locations, area-wise details, and real-time stock availability directly on their mobile phones. This will save time and make the buying process more transparent and hassle-free.
The Excise Department is also considering introducing a pre-booking and pickup facility through the app. As per the proposal, customers will be able to book liquor online, and the concerned shop will reserve the order for up to one hour. If the customer fails to arrive within the stipulated time, the shopkeeper will be free to sell the stock to other customers. This system is expected to improve stock management and further reduce crowding at liquor outlets.
At present, the e-Abkari Delhi app is in trial mode and is available on the Play Store. Officials said feedback is being collected from users during this phase. For a long time, consumers have complained about issues such as brand unavailability and overcharging. Once the trial is successful, the app will be officially launched across the city.
In addition, the app will allow users to file complaints related to overpricing, adulterated liquor, or other irregularities. Information related to the authenticity of liquor will also be provided. According to the Excise Department, this initiative will strengthen transparency, monitoring, and consumer trust in Delhi’s liquor sales system.
