Jharkhand News : Addressing the foundation ceremony of the Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Center at Marine Drive in Kadma, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that institutions are not merely physical structures but platforms that shape human life and values. He expressed confidence that the upcoming center would emerge as a major hub of social harmony, spiritual awareness, and cultural awakening.
The Chief Minister described the initiative as a living example of social, spiritual, and cultural integration and termed it a proud and commendable step for the state.
President Unveils Foundation Plaque
President of India Droupadi Murmu unveiled the foundation plaque and formally laid the cornerstone of the center. The ceremony was conducted with Vedic rituals and traditional customs.
Soren emphasized that institutions established in society serve as mediums to promote ideas, values, and culture. He appreciated the vision of the Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Center Trust and expressed hope that the center would strengthen the cultural identity of the state.
Inspired by Puri’s Jagannath Temple
The center, to be built at an estimated cost of ₹100 crore, will be developed on the lines of the iconic Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha. The proposed complex will include modern facilities for spiritual rituals, cultural events, religious studies, community activities, and social services.
The project is expected to provide not only Jamshedpur but the entire Kolhan region with a renewed cultural identity.
Governor and Union Minister Applaud Initiative
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar said such centers play an important role in preserving cultural heritage and connecting younger generations with traditions. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan described the project as a significant step toward strengthening cultural ties between Odisha and Jharkhand.
Prominent Dignitaries Present
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, MLA Saryu Roy, MLA Purnima Sahu, Tata Steel CEO & MD T.V. Narendran, Managing Trustee S.K. Behera, Trustee Manoranjan Das, and Shridhar Pradhan, among others.
According to the Trust, the center will combine traditional temple architecture with modern amenities, serving as a lasting source of faith, culture, and social inspiration for future generations.
