Uproar in Jharkhand Assembly Over LPG Shortage and Rising Prices

Jharkhand News : The 13th day of the Jharkhand Assembly’s budget session witnessed intense uproar on Friday as ruling party legislators protested against the shortage and rising prices of LPG cylinders in the state.

As soon as the proceedings began, ruling party members stood up from their seats and raised slogans against the central government, accusing it of failing to control LPG prices and supply.

Ruling Party Raises Issue of Gas Shortage

MLA Pradeep Yadav waved newspaper reports in the House and claimed that people in the state are forced to stand in long queues to get cooking gas cylinders. He alleged that the shortage has even affected the mid-day meal scheme in some schools, as kitchens are struggling due to the lack of LPG supply.

Opposition Rejects Allegations

Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi dismissed the allegations, stating that there is no shortage of LPG in the state and that the issue is related to administrative management.

He accused the government of creating unnecessary chaos in the Assembly to hide its own failures. MLA Saryu Roy also said the matter is essentially related to management and should not lead to unnecessary disruptions in the House.

Speaker Intervenes to Restore Order

Amid continued shouting and protests, Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato intervened and asked members to move on from the issue so that the proceedings could continue according to the agenda.

Protest Outside the Assembly

Ruling party MLAs also staged a protest outside the Assembly complex. Holding banners and posters, they raised slogans against the central government over the increase in LPG prices.

Some posters carried slogans criticizing the government over inflation and gas supply issues. Legislators alleged that rising LPG prices are putting heavy financial pressure on poor and middle-class families, and that many people are forced to wait in long lines but still fail to get cylinders due to supply shortages.
