World News: In a tragic incident in Bangladesh, at least 23 people lost their lives after a passenger bus plunged into the Padma River near the Daulatdia ferry terminal in Rajbari district. The bus, carrying around 50 passengers, was traveling from Gopalganj to Dhaka when the accident occurred.
According to officials, the bus lost control while attempting to board a ferry to cross the river. It reportedly collided with a smaller pontoon ferry before falling into the river and sinking to a depth of about 30 feet.
Rescue teams quickly launched operations and managed to save around 10 passengers, while several others remain missing. Search and recovery efforts are ongoing at a war footing. Authorities have ordered a detailed investigation into the incident.
Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding and a slippery ferry terminal surface caused the driver to lose control. Although attempts were made to stop the bus, it was too late to prevent the tragedy. The incident led to chaos at the site, and videos of the accident have surfaced on social media.
