RIMS Land Scam: 16 Officials Face Arrest in Ranchi

Jharkhand News : A major land scam involving the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences has come under intense scrutiny, with 16 government officials and employees now facing possible arrest. The investigation is being led by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which has already arrested four accused individuals and sent them to judicial custody.

According to preliminary findings, the scam revolves around the illegal sale of RIMS land using forged documents. Investigators revealed that a fake genealogy record was created to falsely establish ownership of the land. Using this fabricated lineage, the accused managed to get the land officially converted and later sold it to a builder for approximately ₹31 lakh.

Following the purchase, the builder constructed an apartment complex on the disputed land. Reports indicate that several flats in the building were allocated to the alleged fake landowner as part of the deal, raising serious concerns about collusion and misuse of authority.

The case was officially registered on January 5 following directives from the Jharkhand High Court. The First Information Report (FIR) names RIMS management along with several unidentified officials and staff members as accused. Authorities believe that the scam could involve a broader network of officials across multiple departments.

Before the FIR was lodged, encroachments on the RIMS land had already been cleared under court orders. This action further strengthened suspicions of illegal occupation and fraudulent transactions tied to the property.

The investigation has widened to include the roles of officials from several departments, including the Ranchi Revenue Office, Ranchi Municipal Corporation, the Registration Office, the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), and the Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA). Authorities are closely examining whether negligence, complicity, or deliberate misconduct enabled the scam.

Officials from the ACB have stated that arrests of the remaining accused will proceed once formal government approval is obtained. The case has sparked concerns about systemic corruption and the misuse of public land in Jharkhand.

As the investigation unfolds, more arrests and revelations are expected. The authorities aim to ensure accountability and prevent similar fraudulent activities in the future.
