India News : A key meeting convened by the Indian National Congress on Thursday grabbed headlines after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi reportedly remarked, “Modi has made life miserable” (“Modi ne marwa diya”) while criticizing the central government over issues such as unemployment, inflation, NEET, and examination paper leaks.
The meeting, chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge, was attended by party general secretaries, state in-charges, and Pradesh Congress Committee presidents from across the country.
Why Did Rahul Gandhi Make the Remark?
According to party sources, Rahul Gandhi highlighted several issues affecting citizens, including rising unemployment, recurring examination paper leaks, inflation, and concerns among farmers regarding economic policies and trade agreements.
While discussing the hardships faced by ordinary people, he reportedly used the phrase “Modi ne marwa diya,” an idiomatic Hindi expression used to describe a situation where people are facing severe difficulties or hardships because of certain policies or decisions.
Call for Stronger Grassroots Outreach
Rahul Gandhi urged Congress leaders and workers to strengthen their connection with the public and engage more actively with citizens facing economic and social challenges.
He reportedly said that Congress remains the only national party capable of effectively challenging the influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh at the national level.
Meeting Held Amid Opposition Realignment Discussions
The meeting took place amid ongoing political discussions involving opposition parties. Recent interactions between Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi have fueled speculation about greater opposition coordination.
Congress Plans Nationwide Campaign
Following the meeting, Congress announced plans for a nationwide campaign focusing on inflation, rising prices, unemployment, and examination paper leaks.
Addressing the media, K. C. Venugopal said the campaign would be conducted at national, state, district, and block levels.
He stated that party leaders and workers would directly interact with citizens affected by these issues, understand their concerns, and raise their voices through sustained public outreach and protest programs.
The party is expected to unveil the detailed roadmap for the campaign in the coming days.
