India News : According to authorities, a man said that Chhangur Baba indoctrinated him and then threatened to kill his two daughters in order to force him to convert to Islam. Jamaluddin, also known as Chhangur Baba, a Balrampur native, has been accused of targeting people from various ethnicities and even maintaining a conversion rate list, according to authorities. He was nabbed earlier this month by a squad from Uttar Pradesh Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad.

Jyotirgmay Rai (35) claimed that Chhangur Baba brainwashed him before threatening to murder his two daughters to force him to convert to Islam. His report to the Additional Director General of Police, Piyush Mordia, on Tuesday sparked an investigation. Bhadohi Superintendent of Police, Abhimanyu Mangalik, acknowledged that an inquiry was ongoing. Rai claimed to have married a lady he knew as Ishita in an Arya Samaj ceremony, only to learn later that her name was Afreen, and she came from a Muslim household.
Tensions rose when Afreen’s family reportedly began pressuring Rai to convert to Islam following the birth of her second daughter in March 2024. Rai reports that in November 2024, Afreen and their girls departed for Lucknow.Chhangur Baba allegedly threatened and brainwashed him after he followed them. According to SP, he was persuaded to convert to Islam while his daughters were kept at knifepoint.
After working in Lucknow from December 2024 to April 2025, Rai returned to Bhadohi sans converting and filed a suit in the high court for custody of his children. According to SP, police have been sent to investigate the situation.
