India News : The impact of the floods has not completely subsided in the state, with around 86,832 people still affected across 433 villages in seven districts. While water levels in most rivers are returning to normal, the Dhansiri River at Numaligarh continues to flow above the danger mark.
On Wednesday, one body each was recovered from Sivasagar and Karbi Anglong districts. With these recoveries, the death toll from floods and related incidents has risen to 104.
Flood Impact Continues Across Seven Districts
Several districts, including Golaghat, Hojai, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Jorhat and Karbi Anglong, continue to be affected by the floods. Around 10,884 hectares of agricultural land remain submerged.
Although floodwaters are receding in several areas, residents in affected villages continue to face difficulties.
79 Relief Centres Providing Assistance
The state government is operating 42 relief camps and 37 relief distribution centres for affected people. Around 7,216 people are staying in relief camps, while 5,795 people are receiving assistance through relief distribution centres.
As floodwaters recede, several people have started returning home. However, many houses still have two to three feet of accumulated mud, creating difficulties for residents.
SDRF and Other Agencies Continue Relief Operations
The SDRF, DDRF, police, fire and emergency services, local administration and trained volunteers are involved in relief and rescue operations.
Flooding has also damaged roads, bridges and other infrastructure. The government continues to work on providing relief to affected people and restoring normal conditions.
