Bihar News : PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Around 50 Solar Help Centres will be set up at major locations across Patna to promote the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The centres will provide information on rooftop solar installation, government subsidies, the application process and the benefits of the scheme.
Under the scheme, financial assistance is being provided by the Central government along with additional support from the Bihar government. At present, consumers can receive a total subsidy of up to ₹40,000 for a 1 KW rooftop solar system, ₹70,000 for a 2 KW system and ₹98,000 for a 3 KW system.
PESU steps up solar awareness campaign
The Patna Electric Supply Unit has intensified its awareness campaign to encourage domestic consumers to adopt rooftop solar systems.
PESU General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh said announcements are being made through fuse call vehicles in different areas. Pamphlets are also being distributed through offices and fuse call vehicles to inform people about the scheme.
The campaign will now be expanded by setting up Solar Help Centres at locations that receive a large number of visitors every day.
Help centres at busy and morning walk locations
Priority will be given to locations frequently visited by people for morning walks and daily outings.
Consumers will receive information about the usefulness of rooftop solar, available subsidies and the application process. Their questions and concerns related to the scheme will also be addressed at the centres.
The campaign will particularly focus on reaching domestic consumers who have sufficient space on their rooftops to install solar systems.
Up to ₹98,000 subsidy for 3 KW rooftop solar
Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, financial assistance is available for domestic rooftop solar consumers with support from both the Central and Bihar governments.
Currently, the total subsidy available is up to ₹40,000 for a 1 KW rooftop solar system, ₹70,000 for a 2 KW system and ₹98,000 for a 3 KW system.
Earlier, the subsidy amounts were ₹30,000, ₹60,000 and ₹78,000 respectively.
Rooftop solar can help reduce electricity bills
PESU has appealed to domestic consumers to take advantage of the scheme. Rooftop solar can meet a part of a household’s electricity requirement and help reduce electricity bills.
The scheme also promotes the use of clean and renewable energy.
