Bihar News : On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and ‘Vriksh Suraksha Diwas’ on Friday, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary tied a sacred protective thread around a tree at Rajdhani Vatika-1 in Patna, delivering a message of environmental protection. He also planted a Nagalingam sapling in the premises.
The programme was organised by the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The state-level Vriksh Suraksha Diwas was organised on Raksha Bandhan to raise awareness about the environment, encourage the protection of trees and promote large-scale plantation.
Message of Protecting Trees and Nature
By tying the protective thread around the tree, the Chief Minister highlighted the relationship between nature and human life. The programme conveyed that just as brothers and sisters pledge to protect each other on Raksha Bandhan, society should also take a pledge to protect trees, plants and natural resources.
Focus on Climate Change and Plantation
The programme also highlighted the important role of trees in environmental conservation and in reducing the impact of climate change. The department said that along with large-scale plantation, protecting newly planted saplings is equally important to reduce the adverse effects of climate change on the planet.
Government schemes and initiatives are helping increase public awareness in the state about environmental protection, wildlife conservation, the protection of living species and plantation. Programmes such as Vriksh Suraksha Diwas aim to connect more people with the cause of nature conservation.
Senior Officials Attend the Programme
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Dr Ramchandra Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary of the department Anand Kishore, Chief Minister’s Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Special Secretary Alok Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Arvinder Singh and other senior officials and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
