Bihar News : Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said ensuring timely and easy access to quality fertilizers and seeds for farmers is a top priority of the state government. The Agriculture Department is taking steps to make the fertilizer sales system more transparent, organised and technology-driven.
He said a one-day training programme on ‘Save the Farm, Ensure Easy Access to Quality Seeds and Fertilizers’ will be held on August 31, 2026, at the Agriculture Bhawan auditorium in Mithapur, Patna.
Training on Digital Fertilizer Sales System
Officials of the Agriculture Department will receive training on the digital and Farmer ID-based fertilizer sales system during the programme. They will also be briefed on fertilizer availability and distribution, along with measures to ensure easy access to quality fertilizers and seeds for farmers.
Sinha said the objective of digitising fertilizer sales is not merely a technological change. It is aimed at making the entire system more transparent and accountable in the interest of farmers, ensuring they can easily access essential agricultural inputs when required.
Online System Developed Through FSAS
The Agriculture Minister said the fertilizer sales system is being made digital and transparent to ensure timely availability of quality fertilizers and seeds to farmers. An online system has been developed through the Framework for Fertilizer Sale Application System (FSAS).
The integration of iFMS and AgriStack provides for a more organised and transparent fertilizer purchase and sales process. Under the pilot project, fertilizer sales based on Farmer IDs were initially launched in Vaishali and Sheikhpura districts.
Following its successful implementation, the system has also been introduced in Jehanabad, Arwal, Sheohar, Lakhisarai and Kishanganj districts.
Focus on a Farmer-Centric Agriculture System
Sinha said the government is committed to connecting Bihar’s farmers with modern technology and making the agricultural system smarter, more transparent and farmer-centric. The digital fertilizer sales system is an important step in this direction.
He said the core objective of the ‘Save the Farm, Ensure Easy Access to Quality Seeds and Fertilizers’ campaign is to protect farmers’ fields and ensure timely access to quality agricultural inputs.
Departmental officials are also being trained to ensure effective implementation of the new system.
The Agriculture Minister said modernising the agricultural system while ensuring convenience, transparency and accountability for farmers remains the priority of the Agriculture Department.
