Gopalganj Taekwondo Players Riya and Bhawani Get Rs 2 Lakh Each for World Championship

Bihar News : Financial difficulties will no longer stand in the way of two talented taekwondo players from Gopalganj, Riya Singh and Bhawani Singh, who have been selected to represent India at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026 in South Korea. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to help both players participate in the international competition.

The two athletes will represent India at the championship in South Korea. The Chief Minister announced the financial support after it emerged that the players were facing personal financial difficulties in arranging travel and other expenses for the competition.

CM Announces Financial Assistance

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary shared the information through his X handle. He said talented players Bhawani Singh and Riya Singh from Gopalganj had been selected to represent India at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026 in South Korea.

Calling their selection a matter of pride for Bihar and the country, the Chief Minister said both players were facing financial difficulties in participating in the international event.

The players had sought financial assistance for travel and other essential expenses. Their request has been approved, and both athletes will receive Rs 2 lakh each.

The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the players and expressed hope that they would bring glory to Bihar and India on the international stage.

Players Meet Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari

Riya Singh and Bhawani Singh had earlier met Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, who honoured both players and congratulated them on their selection.

It was stated that both athletes have been working consistently in Taekwondo Freestyle Poomsae for the past several years.

Since 2023, the two players have built their identity through strong performances at national-level competitions. After winning several achievements, including gold medals at national events, they have now earned an opportunity to showcase their talent at the international level.

Gopalganj Celebrates International Selection

The selection of Riya Singh and Bhawani Singh for the Indian team has created a sense of खुशी among sports enthusiasts in Gopalganj.

Their family members and coaches are hopeful that the two players will deliver strong performances in South Korea and succeed in winning medals for the country.

Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari also expressed happiness over their selection through social media. In a Facebook post, he said that two talented stars from the soil of Gopalganj would now represent India on the world stage.

Support for Young Sporting Talent

The Education Minister said financial difficulties should not become an obstacle in the path of talented players participating in international competitions.

He said necessary support and initiatives would be ensured through the Education Department and the Bihar government.

The international selection of the two players has also raised hopes that sporting talent emerging from Bihar’s smaller towns and villages can establish an identity on the world stage if given proper encouragement and support.
