Patna: Negligence and indiscipline during duty have led to action against several police personnel in Patna. A woman constable was suspended after she was found absent from her assigned post during a proposed programme of the Chief Minister, while other traffic personnel faced action after they were found using mobile phones inside a cabin despite traffic congestion on the road.
The Traffic Superintendent of Police suspended woman constable Nisha Kumari with immediate effect after she was found absent from duty without prior information. A report is also being sent to the District Magistrate for departmental action against woman Home Guard Ruchi Kumari.
Woman Constable Suspended Over Absence From CM Duty
The incident related to the Chief Minister’s programme took place on September 2. Traffic arrangements and route lines were being inspected ahead of the Chief Minister’s proposed programme at the Chamber of Commerce.
Women police personnel had been deployed at Bata Mor to manage traffic. During the inspection, Nisha Kumari and Ruchi Kumari were found absent from their designated posts.
According to the report, both had left their duty locations without prior information or permission. Their absence from duty during an important VIP programme was treated as serious negligence, indiscipline and violation of official orders.
Nisha Kumari has been suspended with immediate effect and placed on subsistence allowance during the suspension period. Her headquarters during the suspension has been fixed at Traffic Operations, and departmental proceedings have also been ordered against her.
Three Traffic Personnel Found Using Mobile Phones During Jam
Traffic congestion continues to remain a problem in several parts of Patna despite the deployment of traffic personnel. During a surprise inspection by the Traffic SP, three personnel were found inside a cabin using mobile phones while traffic pressure had increased on the road.
The incident came to light during a surprise inspection of Bakarganj Traffic Post at around 6:45 pm on September 5.
During the inspection, ASI Ravindra Kumar Mandal, woman constable Geeta Kumari and Home Guard Suraj Kumar were found sitting inside the cabin and using mobile phones. Traffic congestion was reported on the road at the time.
Traffic personnel have been instructed to remain outside the cabin and manage traffic during peak hours between 5 pm and 8 pm. However, the three personnel were found ignoring these instructions.
Salary Withheld, Explanation Sought Within Seven Days
The salaries of ASI Ravindra Kumar Mandal and woman constable Geeta Kumari have been withheld with immediate effect. They have been asked to submit their explanations within seven days.
A separate report is also being sent for disciplinary action against Home Guard Suraj Kumar.
In another case, two women police personnel at Kargil Traffic Post were also found using mobile phones during duty. Action has been taken against them as well.
