Patna : Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday said the world is witnessing the rise of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a programme of assistant professors in Patna, he said India is no longer merely presenting its views on global issues but is emerging as an important force capable of offering direction and shared solutions.
Choudhary said India’s presidency of the BRICS Summit has further strengthened the country’s growing role on the global stage. He said the need for peace, cooperation and dialogue has become greater than ever amid the prevailing global situation.
He said the commitment expressed by BRICS countries towards multilateralism, international cooperation and a more just and balanced global order carries an important message for the world.
India’s BRICS Presidency Highlighted
The Chief Minister said the 18th BRICS Summit held under India’s presidency emerged as a historic example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong, inclusive and visionary leadership.
Amid geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, Modi used his diplomacy to bring all member countries together on a common platform and secure consensus on the ‘New Delhi Declaration’, he said. According to Choudhary, the declaration reflects India’s growing influence globally.
He also said India advocated reforms in the United Nations and other global institutions while strongly raising the voice of the Global South.
Focus on Energy Security and Cultural Heritage
Choudhary said BRICS under India’s leadership placed special emphasis on ensuring secure and continuous energy supplies for global economic stability.
He also highlighted the inclusion of a commitment to return ancient heritage items to their countries of origin, saying it ensured respect for cultural sovereignty.
The Chief Minister said support for permanent membership of India and Brazil in the United Nations Security Council would strengthen the growing role of developing countries in global governance. India has long emphasised the need to make international institutions more representative, democratic and aligned with present global realities, he said.
BRICS Stand Against Terrorism Welcomed
Choudhary welcomed the clear and firm stand taken by BRICS countries against terrorism. He said the strong condemnation of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, and the commitment to act against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations sent an important message of global unity against terrorism.
He said decisive action was necessary against terrorist financing, cross-border movement of terrorists and those providing them safe havens.
Technology and Trade Cooperation
The Chief Minister said a rules-based, open and fair trading system is the need of the hour amid growing uncertainty in the global economy.
He said cooperation among BRICS countries in artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, quantum technology and innovation could give a new direction to the economy of the future.
Choudhary added that India’s technological capabilities and experience with digital public infrastructure could benefit developing countries on a broad scale. He said India’s growing influence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a matter of pride for every Indian.
