Kishanganj: Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar, Kishanganj Police have been conducting a continuous special drive against wanted criminals and various illegal activities across the district.
The campaign targets illegal sand mining, liquor, narcotics, animal smuggling, house-breaking and motorcycle theft. Police are also conducting vehicle checks and taking action against people violating traffic rules.
According to the weekly performance report, Kishanganj Police arrested a total of 63 accused in different cases during the campaign conducted from September 7 to 13.
₹4.94 Lakh Collected During Traffic Checks
During vehicle checking, police collected ₹4,94,500 as compounding fines for violations of traffic rules.
The campaign also resulted in the recovery of one country-made pistol and one live cartridge.
Drugs and Liquor Seized
Police reported significant recoveries in action against narcotics. In separate cases, officials seized 507 grams of smack/brown sugar/heroin, 814 grams of MDMA and 200 grams of ganja.
In the crackdown on liquor, police seized 126.075 litres of foreign liquor and 55.055 litres of country-made liquor.
In cases related to animal smuggling, police also recovered 10 cattle.
Vehicles and Other Items Seized
During the operation, police seized one tractor, four motorcycles, two bicycles, three e-rickshaws (totos) and one jugaad vehicle.
Other seized items included three tarpaulins, one mobile phone, one pack of playing cards, 102 electric irons, 444 electric iron-related items, 304 Shri-Palag, 880 lottery tickets, 106 sacks of urea fertiliser and ₹6,230 in cash.
SP Appeals for Information on Drug Trade
On Tuesday, SP Santosh Kumar appealed to the public to provide information about the trafficking or sale of narcotics through the ANTF helpline number 9031816150.
Police said the identity of anyone providing such information would be kept completely confidential.
The police also appealed to people to immediately report cases of cyber fraud or fraudulent calls by dialling 1930 and to file complaints through the cybercrime portal.
