Aichi-Nagoya: Indian Badminton player Ayush Shetty advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the men’s singles event at the Asian Games 2026. Ayush defeated Kazakhstan’s Maksut Tajibullayev 21-7, 21-7 in straight games in the second round on Saturday.
Ayush started the match aggressively and kept his opponent under constant pressure with his quick movement and accurate shots.
The Indian player wrapped up the match in just 18 minutes to book his place in the next round.
Ayush Dominates Both Games
Ayush maintained his lead from the beginning of both games and gave Tajibullayev little opportunity to make a comeback.
The Indian won the opening game 21-7 and continued his dominance in the second game, winning it by the same scoreline.
Tough Challenge Ahead
Ayush Shetty will face a tougher challenge in the pre-quarterfinals, where he will take on Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei.
Chou Tien Chen is currently ranked No. 1 on the BWF World Tour. Ayush will look to carry his strong form into the next round as he aims to progress further in the men’s singles competition.
