- Construction of an 83-km-long Marine Drive between Munger and Bhagalpur to begin
Patna: On the eve of Diwali, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated a grand ‘Deepotsav’ (festival of lights) by lighting lamps at the premises of the Shri Shri 108 Badi Durga Maharani Temple, located in Kalyanpur within the Bariarpur block of Munger district. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously engaged in development initiatives aimed at transforming the nation into a developed country. Former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also undertook significant work toward the prosperity of Bihar, and the current government is carrying forward the development projects initiated by him.
Addressing the issue of flooding in the Ganga River and the resulting damage to farmers’ crops, the Deputy Chief Minister noted that during the time of Dussehra, water flowing from the Terai region of Nepal and the Son River entered the Ganga, causing floods in several areas. Proper management and utilization of the Ganga’s water are crucial for the benefit of farmers. To this end, an important agreement was reached on November 2nd with the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. Through the desilting of the Ganga and effective water management, the available resources will be utilized more efficiently.
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the water from the Ganga will be used for irrigation. Plans are in place to construct dams and water-storage structures at various locations to channel water to agricultural fields. This will ensure that farmers have sufficient water for irrigating their crops, thereby contributing to their prosperity.
He further announced the construction of an approximately 83-kilometer-long Marine Drive between Munger and Bhagalpur. This project will improve connectivity in the region and unlock new possibilities for development.
Samrat Choudhary remarked that, hailing from the land of Munger and with the blessings of the Prime Minister, he has been given the opportunity to serve Bihar as its Deputy Chief Minister. He assured that rapid progress is being made in the state, particularly in the sectors of industry and employment. The government aims to develop a system by 2030 that ensures no individual from Bihar is compelled to leave the state in search of manual labor. Better job, business, and employment opportunities will be made available within the state itself.
Samrat Chaudhary stated that the state government has set a target to provide government jobs and employment opportunities to one crore people, and work in this direction is progressing rapidly. A goal has also been established to empower one crore families to become entrepreneurs over the next five years. Industries in Bihar will expand, investments will increase, and new employment avenues will be created for the youth.
The Chief Minister prayed to Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Shri Ram, Goddess Durga, and Goddess Saraswati for the continuous progress and prosperity of Bihar, as well as for the well-being of every family in the state. He congratulated the Youth Club, renowned homeopathic physician Dr. Nitish Chandra Dubey, and the local residents for organizing a grand and historic ‘Deepotsav’ (festival of lights) in Kalyanpur. He also extended his Diwali greetings to all the people of Bihar.
