- A compilation of key excerpts from the Shankaracharya’s discourses
Varanasi: On Friday, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, the head of the Jyotirmath, unveiled the text *Ashta Bhairava Avatara Katha* (The Narratives of the Eight Incarnations of Bhairava). The book was released during a religious event organized under the auspices of the Jyotirmath. This was announced by the Shankaracharya’s spokesperson at Shri Vidyamath, located at Kedarghat. He explained that the text is based on enlightening discourses delivered by the Shankaracharya on the various incarnations of Lord Shiva, given in the region of Saladha (Chhattisgarh). Sadhvi Purnamba, a fully initiated disciple of the Shankaracharya, has compiled and edited the key excerpts from these discourses with great devotion and skill. Dr. Ranjan Sharma served as the co-editor of the work, while media in-charges Sanjay Pandey and Vivek Bhushan assisted with the design of the book’s cover. This special publication has been brought out by ‘Jyotirmath Prakashan Sevalaya’.
‘Ashta Bhairava Darshan Yatra’ and the Offering of the Text
Following the release of the book, Pandit Ramesh Upadhyay—an advocate and disciple of the Shankaracharya—embarked on an ‘Ashta Bhairava Darshan Yatra’ (a pilgrimage to the eight Bhairava shrines) accompanied by a group of eight dedicated devotees. During this spiritual journey, the group visited and offered prayers at all eight Bhairava temples, presenting a copy of the newly published *Ashta Bhairava* text at each site.
