India News : The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has detained an accused in connection with the alleged misappropriation of offerings at the Badrinath Temple and has begun intensive questioning.
According to information received, the accused, Pramod Nautiyal, was detained from Dehradun late Sunday night. The SIT later brought him to Badrinath, where he is being questioned at the Badrinath police station.
The alleged irregularities came to light on July 2 during the counting of offerings at the temple. Following a complaint by the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), police registered a case and launched an investigation. An SIT was subsequently formed to probe the matter.
Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated possible financial irregularities in the handling and deposit of temple offerings. After conducting raids at several locations, police detained the accused in Dehradun.
Sources said the SIT is also examining documents, CCTV footage, and financial transactions linked to the case. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and questioning.
Police said the investigation is being conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
