Starting Day 4 at 221/7, Australia managed to add only 22 more runs to their overnight total before being bowled out for 243. However, the total proved more than enough thanks to their world-class bowling attack.

Shamar Joseph opened the day with a fiery spell, dismissing Pat Cummins and Alex Carey, while Alzarri Joseph cleaned up Josh Hazlewood to wrap up the Aussie innings. Chasing 277 for victory, West Indies crumbled under pressure.

Hazlewood struck early, trapping John Campbell LBW within the first over. Soon after, Mitchell Starc removed Kjorn Ottley, and Beau Webster got the big wicket of captain Kraigg Brathwaite. The collapse continued with Brandon King bowled by Cummins, and the hosts were left struggling at 33/4.

While Shai Hope and Roston Chase offered brief resistance after lunch, Hazlewood once again broke the stand, dismissing Hope. Chase followed soon, and the writing was on the wall for West Indies.

Towards the end, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, and Jayden Seales launched a six-hitting spree, hitting six sixes collectively. But the resistance was short-lived as Nathan Lyon finished off the tail, bowling out West Indies for just 143 runs in 35 overs.

Match Summary:

  • Australia 1st Innings: 286 (Alex Carey 63; Alzarri Joseph 4/61)

  • Australia 2nd Innings: 243 (Steve Smith 71; Shamar Joseph 4/66)

  • West Indies 1st Innings: 253 (Brandon King 75; Nathan Lyon 3/75)

  • West Indies 2nd Innings: 143 (Roston Chase 34; Mitchell Starc 3/24)

Australia’s pacers were once again the difference-makers, and with this convincing win, the visitors have already secured the Test series before the third match.
