Bhagalpur: Rising water levels in the Ganga have created a serious flood situation in Bhagalpur district, affecting more than 86 panchayats. Amid the crisis, District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey personally visited flood-hit areas to monitor relief and rescue operations.
Reaching the ground zero of the flood crisis, the DM used a tractor to access areas where roads had been submerged. In places with deeper water, she walked barefoot through waist-deep water to reach affected families and listen to their problems.
Access to Flood-Hit Areas Becomes Difficult
The floods have disrupted connectivity in several villages and urban areas of Bhagalpur, including Nawgachhia and Shahkund. Many roads remain submerged, making it difficult for normal vehicles to reach the affected locations.
Despite these challenges, DM Alankrita Pandey visited the affected areas along with the administrative team. Shahkund Circle Officer Harsha Komal also remained engaged in monitoring relief operations in the flood-hit region.
DM Meets Flood-Affected Families
During the inspection, the DM did not limit her visit to reviewing the situation from a distance. She reached families stranded amid floodwaters and personally listened to their concerns.
She monitored the arrangements being made to ensure that relief materials and basic necessities reached every affected person without delay. Administrative teams continued to monitor the situation in coordination with officials working in the affected areas.
Relief Operations Reviewed in Affected Panchayats
Administrative teams also visited heavily affected panchayats in Shahkund block, including Khulni, Pairdo Mominya Mal, Belthu, Khaira, Makandpur and Dariyapur. Officials met residents, assessed the situation and reviewed the ongoing relief arrangements.
During the inspection, DM Alankrita Pandey issued necessary instructions to officials and employees present at the site. She stressed that relief work must be visible on the ground during the disaster and should not remain limited to paperwork.
DM Crosses Difficult Routes to Reach Ground Zero
With floodwaters cutting off several areas and making roads inaccessible, the District Magistrate personally reached affected communities to assess the situation. Her visit focused on monitoring the relief arrangements and ensuring that assistance and essential facilities reached flood-affected people.
The district administration continues to keep a close watch on the flood situation and relief operations across the affected areas.
