Bihar News : The Bihar government has stepped up efforts to strengthen and modernise the cooperative system in the state. The Cooperative Training Centre at Pusa in Samastipur is being developed as a Centre of Excellence, while 10.38 acres of land has been allotted in Dobhi block of Gaya district for a Cooperative Training and Research Institute.
Pusa Centre to Get ₹19 Crore Makeover
The Cooperative Training Centre at Pusa is being revamped at an estimated cost of ₹19 crore. A modern administrative building is being constructed at the centre.
The upgraded facility will include a library, smart classrooms, a common room, gym, principal’s office and residential facilities for faculty members. The objective is to provide better and quality training to officials and employees of the Cooperative Department.
Training and Research Institute Planned in Dobhi
The government is also working to strengthen cooperative training infrastructure in south Bihar. 10.38 acres of land has already been allotted in Dobhi block of Gaya district for the construction of a Cooperative Training and Research Institute.
The development of both institutions will help provide modern training facilities to officials, employees and PACS representatives associated with the cooperative sector.
PACS Members to Receive Master Trainer Training
The state government is also focusing on strengthening training facilities at the PACS level. A plan is being developed to provide training to all PACS members through master trainers.
The programme aims to familiarise PACS members and officials with cooperative operations, management practices and new systems. This is expected to strengthen the functioning of cooperative institutions at the grassroots level.
Training at Prestigious Institutions
The Cooperative Department is sending 420 Cooperative Extension Officers and 300 PACS presidents or managers outside the state for training-cum-study visits at reputed cooperative institutions.
The programmes will provide participants an opportunity to study the functioning and management practices of leading cooperative institutions in the country.
These institutions include Tribhuvan Cooperative University in Anand, Gujarat; Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management in Pune; and Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development in Gurugram.
Modern training systems, improved infrastructure and capacity building at the PACS level are expected to give fresh strength to the cooperative movement in Bihar.
