Bihar News : Residents of Bihta are expected to get piped natural gas, or PNG, connections at their homes from December. Work on expanding the PNG pipeline network has gained pace after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) granted a No Objection Certificate, and the pipeline has now reached Bihta Chowk.
From Bihta Chowk, the pipeline will be extended further to residential and industrial areas. GAIL is also working on plans to expand both PNG and CNG infrastructure across the growing industrial region.
Pipeline to Be Extended From Bihta Chowk to Sikandarpur
GAIL General Manager AK Sinha said work is underway to extend the pipeline from Bihta Chowk to the industrial area at Sikandarpur. GAIL will also set up a gas dispatch centre in Sikandarpur.
After the necessary infrastructure is completed, PNG supply will begin in nearby residential and industrial areas. The company is also preparing to connect the wider region to the CNG network.
According to Sinha, expanding the pipeline and developing the required infrastructure may take around five to six months. The aim is to provide piped gas facilities to households as well as industrial units.
Homes to Get Relief From Cylinder Booking Problems
Once PNG supply begins in Bihta, domestic consumers are expected to get relief from the difficulties of booking and receiving LPG cylinders. Gas will be supplied directly to homes through the pipeline network.
Industrial units will also get an option for a continuous gas supply. GAIL plans to expand its PNG and CNG network in line with the growing industrial activity in Bihta.
Fatuha Industrial Units to Start Getting PNG Next Month
Industrial units in the Fatuha industrial area are expected to begin receiving PNG connections from next month. Once the pipeline network is ready, connections will be provided to industrial units in a phased manner.
This will allow factories and other industrial establishments in the area to access piped gas facilities.
LPG Connection Must Be Surrendered After Getting PNG
According to the Central Government’s instructions, consumers in areas where the PNG pipeline has reached will have to surrender their LPG connections and take PNG connections. The process has been made mandatory for such consumers.
If the instructions are not followed, the concerned LPG connection may be suspended. After getting a PNG connection, consumers will have to surrender their LPG connection through the prescribed procedure.
