India News : Speculation over a major cabinet reshuffle in the NDA government has intensified ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for June 18. Political circles are abuzz with reports that several ministers could be replaced, although no official confirmation has been made so far.

According to media reports, the reshuffle could affect as many as a dozen ministers. Sources suggest that at least two Cabinet Ministers and three Ministers of State may be dropped from the Council of Ministers.

BJP May Make Key Organizational Changes

As the Bharatiya Janata Party prepares for upcoming Assembly elections in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, the party is reportedly considering significant organizational and ministerial changes.

Reports also indicate that a senior Union minister may be assigned a major organizational responsibility in a southern state.

Allies Could Get Greater Representation

Political discussions suggest that NDA allies such as Janata Dal (United), Telugu Desam Party, Nationalist Congress Party, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha may receive representation in the expanded cabinet.

Among them, the parties led by Nitish Kumar and N. Chandrababu Naidu are expected to benefit the most. Most leaders from allied parties are likely to be inducted as Ministers of State.

Rajya Sabha Members May Be Shifted to Party Organization

Sources indicate that some ministers whose Rajya Sabha terms are ending this year or in early 2027 could be moved to organizational roles within the BJP.

The party is also reportedly considering replacing some Rajya Sabha MPs above the age of 70 with younger faces. There is speculation that leaders from various BJP fronts and wings could be inducted into the Union Cabinet for the first time.

Rajya Sabha Elections on June 18

The Rajya Sabha elections on June 18 will cover:

  • Four seats each from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Karnataka
  • Three seats each from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan
  • Two seats from Jharkhand
  • One seat each from Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram

By-elections will also be held for one Rajya Sabha seat each from Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

Of the 26 seats going to polls and by-polls, the NDA is currently expected to secure 18 seats, with the BJP likely winning 12 of them. The election outcome could play a crucial role in shaping the composition of the Union Cabinet in the coming weeks.
