Sainik School Nalanda Hosts CBSE Programme on Student Mental Health

Nalanda : A one-day Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for in-service teachers on “Promoting Mental Health and Wellness Among Students” was organised at Sainik School Nalanda on August 29, 2026. The programme was conducted under the aegis of the CBSE Centre of Excellence, Patna Region.

The programme aimed to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills and strategies needed to identify, understand and effectively address the mental health and emotional well-being needs of students.

60 Teachers Participate in Programme

The programme was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Colonel Bhupender Kumar, Principal of Sainik School Nalanda, along with other distinguished guests in the presence of participating teachers.

A total of 60 teachers took part in the programme. Of these, 25 were from Sainik School Nalanda and 35 were from Mani Dweep Academy, Jamui, Bihar.

Teachers’ Role in Student Mental Well-Being Highlighted

Addressing the participants, Colonel Bhupender Kumar highlighted the important role teachers play in creating a positive, safe and supportive school environment that promotes students’ mental and emotional well-being.

He noted that teachers are often the first to notice changes in a student’s behaviour, emotions, academic performance or social interactions. He urged teachers to remain empathetic, approachable and sensitive to students’ emotional needs while promoting resilience, self-awareness, healthy relationships and a positive outlook.

Experts Conduct Interactive Sessions

Pedagogy experts and CBSE Centre of Excellence-appointed resource persons Dr Pramod Kumar, Senior Master of Sainik School Nalanda, and Shri Kundan Pathak, Principal of Saraswati International School, Asthawan, conducted two sessions during the programme.

The sessions focused on various aspects of student mental health and wellness. Teachers were encouraged to adopt supportive and inclusive practices in their classrooms and schools.

Case-Based Learning and Group Activities

The interactive programme included discussions, group activities, case-based learning and hands-on exercises. These activities helped participants develop practical strategies for supporting students’ emotional well-being.

The programme also focused on helping teachers contribute to a positive and supportive school climate.
