Contractors will now be arrested if traffic is obstructed due to potholes on the road

India News : Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal is in action to ensure smooth traffic system and safety of the public in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi. He patrolled on foot late Tuesday evening and found out the reality of traffic system in various parts of the city and gave instructions to the responsible officers on the spot. During the inspection, the Commissioner expressed deep displeasure over the obstructed traffic due to encroachment on the roads and potholes left incomplete in the name of construction work. He took strict action against the contractors who have been negligent in road repair for the last 15–30 days and ordered their arrest.

Instructions given for action at these places

Rathyatra to Gurubagh road: Orders for strict action and arrest against the contractor who left potholes in the middle of the road, action taken against the contractor for obstructing traffic in the name of construction near Arihant Complex, instructions for action taken against the contractor for not repairing the dilapidated road near Broadway Hotel, Bhelupur. Instructions have been given to take action against the concerned contractors for leaving the potholes unfilled in front of Ravindrapuri, Sundarpur, Popular Hospital. Order to remove illegal encroachments on the roadside from Teliyabagh to Marimai Tiraha and register FIR against the culprits.

Strictness on illegal parking too

The Police Commissioner issued notices to Arihant Complex, Popular Hospital and I.P. Mall, Sigra and directed them to make proper parking arrangements in front of their respective premises. Clear instructions were given to the institutions to deploy their personnel to stop vehicles from being parked on the road and ask customers to park their vehicles only in the designated parking. The Commissioner warned that if illegal parking is found outside the premises, action will be taken to seal the concerned institution.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anshuman Mishra, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Somveer Singh, concerned ACP were also present.
