Bihar News : Darbhanga MP Dr Gopal Ji Thakur distributed sewing machines and tricycles among persons with disabilities at a Divyangjan Assistance and Honour Programme organised to promote self-reliance. Trained beneficiaries from the training centre received sewing machines to help them pursue self-employment and move towards economic independence.
The programme was chaired by former Mukhiya Vijay Choudhary. BJP Mandal President Ramajya Choudhary, JD(U) Block President Shashi Sah, along with several public representatives and local dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
Focus on Skills, Employment and Self-Reliance
Dr Gopal Ji Thakur said the objective should not be limited to providing assistance to persons with disabilities. He stressed the need to connect them with skills, employment and opportunities for self-reliance.
He said the Central Government has been continuously working towards the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
Assistive Devices to Support Independence
The MP said assistive devices are not merely means of providing convenience to persons with disabilities. They also open the way to greater self-respect, self-reliance and new opportunities.
He said the empowerment of persons with disabilities is an important part of the vision of a developed India, in line with the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.”
