Elephant Rampage in Ramgarh Kills Three, Villagers Terrified

Wild Elephant Menace Continues in Khunti, Woman Crushed to Death

Jharkhand News : A herd of wild elephants has sparked panic in Ramgarh, Jharkhand, after attacking local residents and causing three deaths. The incidents, which occurred on Friday morning, involved a group of about 12 elephants entering areas near the Gola forest and targeting villagers in different locations. The attacks have left the local community in fear.

In the first incident, two laborers sleeping at a brick kiln were trampled to death by the elephants. In a separate attack, an elderly man collecting Mahua flowers in the forest was also killed. Villagers have reported that the herd has been moving closer to residential areas, increasing the risk to human life and property.

Following reports of the attacks, the Forest Department and local authorities rushed to the sites to assess the situation. They confirmed that efforts are underway to drive the herd back into the forest safely, preventing further casualties.

Local residents have demanded that affected families receive adequate compensation for the loss of life and property. They also stressed the need for long-term management strategies to prevent future incidents, as such attacks appear to be becoming more frequent.

An alert has been issued in the affected areas, and villagers are being advised to remain vigilant. Children are being told to avoid going near forests, and people are warned against traveling alone in areas frequented by elephants.

Forest officials mentioned that drones and monitoring equipment would be used to track elephant movements. Additionally, local police and forest personnel are increasing patrolling around villages to ensure public safety.

Experts say this incident highlights the growing conflict between humans and wildlife in Jharkhand. The encroachment on natural habitats, reduced forest cover, and shrinking biodiversity are driving elephants closer to human settlements in search of food. Authorities emphasize the urgent need for effective wildlife management and preventive measures to protect both humans and elephants.

This recent attack underscores the challenges of balancing wildlife conservation with community safety. Officials have urged villagers to remain cautious while the Forest Department works on relocating the herd and minimizing further risk.
