Light Reaches Phulwaria Tola After 80 Years
Phulwaria Tola, a remote hamlet located in the dense forests of Koderma and home to around 550 residents—mostly from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) Birhor community—remained without electricity for nearly 80 years after Independence.
On September 13, 2025, the village witnessed a historic transformation when electricity was introduced under the Chief Minister Energy Happiness Scheme. A 63 KVA transformer was installed through coordinated efforts of the district administration, Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL), and the Forest Department. Over 100 households were electrified, marking a new beginning in terms of education, healthcare, safety, and dignity.
Urban Development Initiatives
To boost urban development, the district revised circle rates for 2025–26 with state approval, leading to reduced holding tax rates for both residential and commercial properties across Jhumri Tilaiya Municipal Council, Koderma Nagar Panchayat, and Domchanch Nagar Panchayat. The move is expected to benefit residents and businesses alike.
Strengthening Transport and Infrastructure
To reduce road accidents, flyover construction has been approved at Maharana Pratap Chowk and Subhash Chowk. Proposals for constructing sports stadiums in multiple blocks—including Karma, Satgawan, Markacho, Domchanch, and Chandwara—have been submitted to promote youth talent.
Advancements in Healthcare
Healthcare infrastructure has seen major upgrades in the district. A modular operation theatre has been established at the Sadar Hospital, while Domchanch Hospital now has an Integrated Public Health Laboratory and a 20-bed ICU. Notably, 29 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have received National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification. Improvements in maternal and child healthcare and focused tuberculosis eradication campaigns have also been undertaken.
