Bihar News : The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture will visit Bihar from August 23 to 26 to review the development and maintenance of national highways in the state. The committee will also discuss air connectivity and related infrastructure projects during the visit.
The committee is chaired by JDU Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Jha.
First Visit Through Mithapur-Mahuli Elevated Corridor
During its Bihar visit, the full Parliamentary Standing Committee team will travel through the newly constructed Mithapur-Mahuli Elevated Corridor for the first time.
The regional office of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has written to the Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC) to ensure the necessary preparations for the visit.
The committee is also scheduled to visit Gaya. The NHAI regional office has finalised the route for the team.
The delegation will travel via Mithapur Overbridge and the Mithapur-Mahuli Elevated Corridor before proceeding through the Mahuli ROB service road to NH-22, the Patna-Gaya road.
The construction of the Mithapur-Mahuli Elevated Corridor was recently completed.
Encroachments to Be Removed from Patna-Gaya-Dobhi Four-Lane Road
The Parliamentary Standing Committee will also travel along the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four-lane road.
In view of the committee’s visit, the concerned district magistrates have been directed to remove all types of encroachments from the route.
Officials have also been asked to take necessary steps to maintain the condition of the road and ensure better traffic management.
Review of National Highway Development
During the Bihar visit, the committee will review the development and maintenance of national highways in the state.
Meetings are proposed with officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the state Road Construction Department.
The discussions will focus on the status of national highway projects and road maintenance in Bihar.
Air Connectivity Also on the Agenda
The committee will also discuss the status of air connectivity in Bihar.
A meeting has been planned with officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the state government to review the expansion of air connectivity and the status of related projects in the state.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture has 10 members from the Rajya Sabha and 31 from the Lok Sabha.
