Nawada Sports Honour 2026: 300 Players Felicitated, Festival Announced

Nawada: Around 300 players, coaches, people associated with sports and media personnel were honoured during the Nawada District Sports Honour Ceremony 2026. The event was organised under the chairmanship of BJP district media in-charge and programme coordinator Gulshan Kumar.

Nawada MP Vivek Thakur attended the ceremony as the chief guest and announced a Sports Festival. He said Nawada has no shortage of sporting talent and stressed the need to provide players with better training, playgrounds, sports equipment and other necessary resources.

Sports Personalities and Public Representatives Attend Event

Rajauli MLA Vimal Rajvanshi attended the programme as a special guest. Other prominent attendees included HAM party national spokesperson and Bihar Flag Football Association president Shyam Sundar Sharan, former Bihar Cricket Association president Gopal Bohra, BJP leader Shashi Bhushan Bablu, ABVP’s Abhay Rana and Arvind Kumar.

The programme began with floral tributes and the lighting of lamps before the portraits of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and prominent sports personality Mewalal.

MP Highlights Need for Better Sports Facilities

Addressing the gathering, MP Vivek Thakur said Nawada’s players have brought recognition to the district through their performances at district, state, national and international levels.

He said the challenges faced by players would remain among his priorities and that issues related to playgrounds, training, sports equipment and other facilities would be raised at the appropriate level for resolution.

The MP appealed to players to focus on their sport with hard work, discipline and dedication.

Sports Help Build Discipline and Leadership

Vivek Thakur said sports are not only a means of winning medals but also help young people develop discipline, self-confidence, leadership abilities and positive thinking.

He said young people in Nawada should be provided every possible opportunity to progress through sports.

The MP congratulated programme organiser Gulshan Kumar and described the initiative to honour players as commendable.

Gopal Bohra Receives Dhyan Chand Honour

Former Bihar Cricket Association president Gopal Bohra was honoured with the Dhyan Chand Honour during the programme.

The ceremony recognised players and other individuals associated with sports for their contributions and performances in different fields.
