India News : The alleged mastermind behind the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case, Bijendra Gupta, has been arrested by the Maharashtra Police from Bihar after remaining on the run for several months.
According to the police, Gupta had been evading arrest by frequently changing his location. Raids were conducted across Bihar and several other states before he was finally apprehended.
Investigating agencies say Gupta’s name has surfaced in several high-profile examination paper leak cases across the country. During the 2024 NEET paper leak controversy, he allegedly made claims in a media sting operation about how paper leak syndicates functioned and pointed to alleged vulnerabilities in the security systems of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Those claims have not been officially verified.
Police said several other accused, including Gupta’s wife, had already been arrested in connection with the Maharashtra TET paper leak case. However, Gupta had managed to evade law enforcement until his latest arrest.
Investigators believe his arrest could provide crucial leads about the alleged paper leak network, its associates, and the overall functioning of the syndicate. He is currently being interrogated as the investigation continues.
The arrest comes at a time when students across the country are continuing protests demanding greater transparency in the examination system and strict action against those involved in the NEET paper leak case. Investigating agencies view Gupta’s arrest as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing probe.
