India News : Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) celebrated the 77th Republic Day at its Headquarters, Sanctoria, with patriotic fervour, dignity and a strong sense of unity. Satish Jha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), ECL, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of Md. Anzar Alam, Director (Finance); Niladri Roy, Director (Technical/Operations); Girish Gopinathan Nair, Director (Technical/Planning & Projects); Deepti Patel, Chief Vigilance Officer; and Kiran Jha, President, Shatakshi Mahila Mandal. Chairpersons Jirak Begum and Geetha Radhamani, along with other members of the Shatakshi Mahila Mandal, representatives of trade unions, Welfare Board members, Heads of Departments, contractual workers and employees from various areas and units of ECL were also present. The large participation reflected the collective spirit, discipline and commitment of the ECL family on this national occasion.
The programme commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag by Satish Jha and the collective singing of the National Anthem. The CMD then took the salute and inspected the Guard of Honour, symbolising discipline, unity and respect for the nation.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Jha paid homage to the courage and supreme sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters. He reaffirmed ECL’s unwavering commitment to nation-building through sustained coal production, technological advancement and inclusive employee welfare. Highlighting the evolving energy landscape, changing regulatory frameworks and growing environmental expectations, he emphasized the need for adaptability, innovation and collective responsibility, while urging all to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution.
The programme featured vibrant cultural performances by children from nearby schools and a special demonstration by CISF personnel, showcasing the successful rescue of hostages from terrorists. On the occasion, ECL management felicitated employees for their outstanding performance and dedicated service.
The Republic Day parade concluded with the dispersal of contingents, followed by the release of colourful balloons into the sky, symbolising freedom, hope and shared aspirations for progress and prosperity.
As part of the celebrations, Shri Satish Jha, CMD, ECL, inaugurated a newly constructed badminton court at Dishergarh Club, reinforcing the organisation’s focus on employee welfare, sports promotion and community engagement.
The 77th Republic Day celebrations at ECL Headquarters reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to unity, service and nation-building, alongside its role in ensuring energy security and productivity. The programme was conducted efficiently by the Security Department of ECL under the guidance of Major Sharadendu Tiwari, Deputy General Manager and Head of Department (Security).
