Jharkhand News : Tension erupted on Tuesday morning at NTPC’s Badam Coal Mining Project when a large group of villagers staged a protest at the site office of a private company associated with the project. The demonstration reportedly turned violent, leading to vandalism within the office premises and creating panic among employees and officials.
Long-Standing Dispute Over Rehabilitation and Compensation
According to reports, project-affected villagers have been expressing dissatisfaction for a long time over issues related to displacement, compensation, and rehabilitation. Local residents claim that their concerns have not been adequately addressed despite repeated protests and demands.
Villagers also alleged that recent developments, including the arrest of some local residents, further intensified anger in the area.
Protest Escalates Into Vandalism
On Tuesday morning, a large number of villagers gathered at the project site office to voice their grievances. As the protest intensified, several items and property within the office premises were reportedly damaged.
The incident created chaos among company employees and officials present at the site.
Police and Administration Intervene
Following the incident, police and administrative officials rushed to the spot and worked to bring the situation under control. Additional security personnel have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.
