Jharkhand News : The Communist Party of India (CPI) has welcomed the Jharkhand government’s decision to cancel the JPSC-JSSC CGL examination and conduct a high-level investigation into all competitive examinations held since 2014.
CPI state secretary Mahendra Pathak said the decision addresses almost all the major demands raised by students. He described it as a victory for the united struggle of unemployed youth in Jharkhand.
Students’ Pressure Led to Government Decision
Mahendra Pathak said students had been raising their voices for several days against alleged paper leaks, irregularities and corruption, both on the streets and through social media.
He said sustained pressure from students eventually forced the government to cancel the examination and announce an investigation into recruitments conducted since 2014. According to him, the development reflects the strength of students’ unity and their sustained struggle.
Key Points of the Government’s Decision
According to Mahendra Pathak, the major points of the decision include:
- Cancellation of the disputed CGL examination and conducting a fresh examination through a transparent process.
- A high-level investigation into all competitive examinations conducted since 2014.
- Agreement to a judicial inquiry, which, according to the CPI, demonstrates the government’s intention to address the issue.
Pathak Criticises BJP Over CBI Probe Demand
Mahendra Pathak alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was politicising the issue. He accused the BJP of trying to enter the students’ movement in the name of a CBI investigation and divert the issue.
Pathak said that since the state government had agreed to a judicial inquiry, the BJP’s demand for a CBI investigation was an attempt to shift the focus of the issue. He claimed that the BJP was more concerned about political interests than the future of students.
The CPI said a judicial inquiry under the supervision of the state government would be the most appropriate and faster process. According to the party, it could help ensure that those responsible are punished at the earliest.
CPI Lists Demands for the Investigation
Mahendra Pathak demanded that representatives of students and unemployed organisations be included in the inquiry committee.
He also demanded that the investigation be completed within six months, the report be made public and strict action be taken against those found responsible.
The CPI further demanded that the new CGL examination be conducted within 90 days through a completely transparent process.
‘United Struggle Can Make Government Bow’
Mahendra Pathak congratulated all students and young people of Jharkhand, saying the movement had demonstrated that a united struggle could compel the government to respond to their demands.
He said the CPI would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with students in their future struggles.
