Free Food Safety and Hygiene Training for Street Food Vendors in Koderma on August 18

Jharkhand News : A free training programme on food safety and hygiene will be organised for street food vendors on August 18, 2026, at the Civil Surgeon’s Office conference hall at Sadar Hospital, Koderma. The programme is being organised under the directions of the department and the Deputy Commissioner and will be conducted in two batches from 10 am to 4 pm.

The training will be provided with the support of Nestlé and NASVI (National Association of Street Vendors of India). Street food vendors will be trained on food safety, hygiene, food management and safe and hygienic methods of preparing food.

Training on Food Safety and Hygiene

During the programme, vendors operating roadside food stalls will be informed about essential food safety practices. They will also be made aware of various provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

According to the Food Safety Department, inspections of street food stalls, roadside vendors, hotels and restaurants in the city have found that some food businesses are still using inedible colours and adulterated turmeric.

The department has specifically highlighted the use of allegedly cancer-causing inedible colours, including “Champaia colour” and “Pudia colour,” and stressed the need to create greater awareness among food vendors.

Vendors Urged to Attend the Free Programme

The Koderma Food Safety Department has appealed to all street food vendors and roadside food stall operators across the district to make use of the free training programme.

The initiative aims to educate food vendors about safe and hygienic food preparation practices so that the public can have access to quality, safe and hygienically prepared food.
