- Ranchi JPSC-JSSC protest: After two rounds of talks with students, the Jharkhand government agreed to cancel the 14th JPSC exam and order a CID probe.
Jharkhand News : Amid the ongoing protest by JPSC and JSSC aspirants in Ranchi, the Jharkhand government has agreed to cancel the 14th JPSC examination. Minister Deepika Pandey made the announcement after two rounds of talks with the protesting candidates and said efforts were underway to accept all legitimate demands of the students.
Several issues were discussed during the meetings, and an agreement was reached on a number of demands. The government has agreed to cancel the 14th JPSC examination while also taking steps to investigate examinations conducted by TDPL and the JSSC-CGL examination.
CID to Investigate TDPL Exams and JSSC-CGL
Minister Deepika Pandey said that following discussions with the students, the government had agreed to cancel the 14th JPSC examination.
She further said that the CID will investigate all examinations conducted by TDPL, along with the JSSC-CGL examination. If the government feels that an investigation by a central agency is required, it will also write to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Investigations Targeted for Completion in 90 Days
On the concerns surrounding JSSC-CGL, the minister said the results had been declared and appointment letters distributed following the directions of the Supreme Court. The selected candidates have also been working for nearly a year.
Since the matter is already before the court, the government has sought the cooperation of the students regarding the steps to be taken under the changed circumstances.
Minister Deepika Pandey said the CID investigation would be fully monitored by a judicial committee. The government aims to complete the investigations within 90 days and approach a fast-track court so that justice can be delivered to the students.
Government Emphasises Examination Reforms
The minister also stressed the need for reforms in the examination system. She said the issue was not limited to Jharkhand and that changes were required across the country according to changing circumstances to prevent problems such as paper leaks from recurring.
She recalled that the Jharkhand government had passed a bill in the Assembly in 2023 providing for strict punishment against paper leaks.
Deepika Pandey alleged that the BJP had opposed the legislation when it was introduced in Jharkhand. She further claimed that the Centre later brought a similar law in Parliament to satisfy students.
